About our Schools

Located 20 miles southwest of Madison, Belleville is a charming village that boasts a strong educational system along with a strong sense of family within the community. For a small city of just under 2,500 people, Belleville offers “big-school” opportunities in a small-school atmosphere. Belleville Elementary School hosts 4K through 1st grade with just over 190 students while the Intermediate School hosts 2nd through 6th grade serving just over 350 students. Our schools provide big-school opportunities in a safe, student-centered, welcoming environment that one would expect in a small town. This is one of the many reasons Belleville was voted one of Madison’s best suburbs!

The school district has been notified that the bridge closing will not take place until Monday, May 22.  Please make plans accordingly for bus detours at that time.

River Street (Hwy 69) from Federal Avenue to Main Street will be closed to through traffic. Traffic will be detoured using County D, Remy Road crossing Fahey’s Bridge and Hwy 92. This detour will disrupt three bus routes, Bus 8 (Orange Cat), Bus 9 (Black Bear) and Bus 14 (Green Dinosaur). All other routes will not be affected.

If your student(s) ride any of the three routes mentioned, please have them ready to board 5 minutes earlier each morning once the detour is in place. This also affects the rural riders as we will be starting the routes 5 minutes earlier. Conversely, you can expect them to arrive home in the afternoon a bit later. All stops will remain the same with the exception of River Street and Serve-us Street on Bus 9.  That stop will be moved to Serve-us Street and North Park Street.

Thank you for your understanding and don’t hesitate to contact Rodger Goke with questions or concerns.  He can be reached at (608) 335-4599.
